Virginia City, Nevada
This four-story, 16-room school opened in 1876 to educate the children of miners living in and around Virginia City. It closed in 1936 and is now a museum. Reyman Bros. restored this venerable structure with the assistance of historic photographs. The Fourth Ward School now has the original bell, a new porch, new roof, new paint, working windows, and an expanded gift shop. It is open to visitors from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
