Historic Preservation: Merrill Hall at Asilomar Conference Grounds

Pacific Grove, California
Merrill Hall is a beautiful, vaulted auditorium with seating for 650 guests, rich hardwood floors, a stage with theatrical lighting, a grand piano, and exposed structural elements that give it a signature Craftsman look and feel. Built in 1928, Merrill Hall is made of visually-distinctive redwood and stone harvested from the local area, and is one of the grandest buildings on the Asilomar property. In addition to giving the building a seismic retrofit and providing ADA accessibility. The Reyman Bros. historic renovation team installed wheelchair ramps and made the facility ADA accessible, all while removing delicate finishes and painstakingly putting them back to preserve the awesome grandeur of Merrill Hall.
